Bozhou City
Bozhou, situated in the northwest of Anhui, is one of
the national-level famous places of historic interest. It
is the hometown of Cao Cao and Hua Tuo. There remains many
historical sites such as the Tang Tomb, Hua Tuo Temple,
and Ancient Military Tunnel. The "Wu Qin Exercies"
invented by Hua Tuo is called "the wonder of Bozhou" and
has a strong appeal to visitors at home and abroad.
The Tombs of
Cao's Clan The Cao's Clan Tombs lie to the
south of the city. Of these tombs, three have been
unearthed, bringing out precious relics such as jade
clothes sewn with silver thread. Inside a bigger on there
are seven chambers with such treasured works of art as
portraits, stone carvings and colour aintings.
The Hua Tuo Temple Hua Tuo is a well-known
doctor in the Easter Han Dynasty. He invented "Mafusan",
an anesthetic made from Chinese medicinal herbs. The
master doctor even created an exercise called "Wu Qin
Exerciese", imitating the movement of five different
birds and animals. In memory of Hua Tuo, the later
generation built the Hua Tuo Temple.
The Three Kingdoms Palace The Three Kingdoms Palace was built
in the recent years, with a ground area of over twenty
thousand square metres. The palace represents the scene
of the Eastern Han Dynasty like an epitome of its
historical picture.
The Ancient Military Tunnels It is huge and very complicated
project in ancient times. The tunnels lead to the four
gates of the city, extending as deep as four meters
below the ground level. The main routes are all tunnels
in pairs, with branch tunnels crisscrossing underground,
and connecting each other.
The Theatrical Mansion The magnificent structure was set up
in 1676. It has been mended and decorated time and again
throughout the years and now looks gorgeous and
splendid. Near the mansion, there are a theatrical
building, a bell tower, a drum tower, a seat building
and a hall devoted to Guan Yu. These buildings are full
of carvings and color paintings.
The Medical City Bozhou has been one of the four
largest centers of Chinese traditional medicines in
Chinese history. It turns out over 400 kinds of Chinese
medicinal herbs. Now there are many large-scale trade
sites and streets of Chinese herbal medicines in town.
Guoyang County Guoyang County is situated in
northwest Anhui. It is the hometown of Lao Zi, the famous
thinker and philosopher in ancient China. Lao Zi was the
founder of Taoist school.
The Lao Zi Hall The Lao Zi Hall is the principal part
of the Taiqing Palace. The whole layout is very grand. The
bronze statue of Lao Zi is 5.5 metres tall and 5.5 tons in
weight.
