Mount
Qiyun Mountain Qiyun is located in Xiuning
County of Huangshan City. The scenic spots covers an area
of 60 square kilometres. The geological structure of Mt.
Qiyun is "landform of rosy clouds". All of the peaks,
rocks and caves are as red as rosy clouds. Now three
scenic spots of the Moonlight Street, the Cloud Rock Cave
and the Tower-upon Tower are tapped in Mt. Qiyun. Now the
cable car has been put into operation.
A Holy Place of Taoism Mt. Qiyun is one of the four holy
places of Taoism in China. Standing on its halfway the
ancient Taoist temples nestle in its bosom of a lush
green. Mt. Qiyun has long been reverenced and yearned for
by Taoists.
The Inscription Tablets Mt. Qiyun attracts the famous scholars
through the ages, who left numerous stone inscriptions.
The fine expressions, the vigorous calligraphy and the
elegant carvings make Mt. Qiyun a holy place for the
Chinese culture lovers of the world.
The Xin'an River Stemming from the south of Anhui the
Xin'an River winds through magnificent mountains, verdant
hills and ancient houses. It is 293 kilometres long with
beautiful hills and green trees on both sides of the
river. The Xin'an River flows through Shexian County to
empty into the Thousand-Isle Lake. The water of the river
is limpid and transparent, and the scenery along the river
enchanting, which has long been known as "A Waterway
Gallery" of the golden travel route from Huangshan to
Huangzhou.
The Taiping Lake The Taiping Lake lies between Mt.
Huangshan and Mt. Jiuhua, with an water area of about 100
square kilometres. A number of peninsulas, islands,
branching streams and bays of varying sizes are scattered
in the clear water of the lake, which is praised as "the
Sweetheart of Mt. Huangshan". Now the rare animal islets
and the playground on water have been built. The Taiping
Lake Bridge, now under construction, will be open to
traffic before 1997.
Jixi County Jixi County is situated in southeast
Anhui. It is the hometown of Hu Zongxian, Wang Hua and Hu
Shi. The major scenic spots are the Cooling Peak, Mt.
Pretty Jiuhua, etc. The Cooling Peak is one of the state
natural preserves, with abundant fauna and flora.
The Former Residence of Hu Shi Hu Shi was one of the representative
figures of the China New Culture Movement. The Former
Residence of Hu Shi is situated in Shangzhuang Village,
Jixi County. It was built in 1897. In the residence there
are furniture, genealogy, paintings and photographs. The
original manuscripts of Hu Shi are also on display.
The Hus' Ancestral Hall The Hus' Ancestral Hall is located in
Yingzhou Township in Jixi County, with a floor space of
1,146 sq. meters. It was built for Hu Fu and Hu Zongxian,
high-ranking officials in the Ming Dynasty. The roof beams
and the pillars are all exquisitely carved. It is ranked
as the one of major cultural relics under state
protection.
