Hefei City, the capital of Anhui is situated in
the middle of Anhui between the Changjiang River the
Huaihe River, with an area of 50 square kilometers.
Hefei is an important base of science and education
in China and among the first threed garden cities in
the country. It is surrounded by green hills and
rivers with trees and flowers lining its streets.
Historically, Hefei was famous for being "an old
town of the Three Kingdoms" and the "the hometown of
BaoZheng". There are a number of historic remains
and scenic spots here.

Bao Zheng, a famous official of the Northern Song
Dynasty, was from Hefei. He has been admired by people
from generation to generation for his honesty and
uprightness, and for his strict enforcement of the law as
well. The Bao Zheng Memorial Temple stands in the Baohe
Park to the south of the city centre of Hefei. It was said
to be the place where Bao Zheng once studied in his
childhood. Inside the temple is a big bronze statue of Bao
Zheng and also his portrait carved in stone in the Qing
Dynasty. A number of precious relics concerning Bao Zheng
and his life stories are well preserved in the temple. The
Bao Zheng Tomb stands east to the Memorial Temple. Bao
Zheng's remains are buried there. The tomb garden is
shaded by the foliage of flourishing trees. The tomb and
the memorial temple form the memorial area of Bao Zheng.
The Xiaoyaojin Park
The Xiaoyaojin Park lies in the northeast of old Hefei.
It used to be a ferry on the Feihe River. The park was
once the ancient battlefield in the period of the Three
Kingdoms. It is the place where, at the time, "Zhang Liao
was known for and wide for his military prowess.
The Jiaonu Rostrum
The Jiaonu Rostrum near the Xiaoyaojin Park was
originally Cao Cao's directing stand, which was used to
train crossbow men. Now the Mingjiao Temple stands on it,
where also lie the Over Roof Well and the Hearing-the Pine
Pavilion.
The Chaohu Lake The Chaohu Lake has been always
elebrated for its beautiful scenery, touching fairy tales
and plentiful aquatic products. There are many historical
sites in Chaohu District, for example, the Memorial Temple
of Mi Fu, the Tomb of Zhou Yu, the Memorial Temple of
Xiang Yu, etc. Now the Laoshan Vacation Land is being
built, including the Laoshan Villas, the lakeside swimming
pool and so on.
